SDPD Honor 1 version 2 is fresh out of the factory!

SDPD Honor One is a mobile tribute and monument to all of the men and women of the San Diego Police Department that lost their lives in the line-of-duty. This vehicle attends various public safety memorials, community events and law enforcement ceremonies.  The idea for this type of project had been in consideration for several years, however following the deaths of Officer Chris Wilson (EOW 10/28/2010) and Officer Jeremy Henwood (EOW 8/7/2011) it was made a priority.

The original SDPD Honor One is a 2013 Ford Police Interceptor that had been in-service with the San Diego Police Department.  This vehicle and was outfitted with additional lighting equipment and features images from the memorial monument of the San Diego Police Department, the California Peace Officer’s Memorial and the National Law Enforcement Memorial. The names of each of the fallen officers from the San Diego Police Department are featured on the hood.

SDPD Honor One was unveiled at San Diego Police Headquarters in April 2015 and soon departed for Sacramento for the California Peace Officers Memorial (CPOM) on May 3, 2015.  SDPD Honor One then met with officers and survivors at law enforcement memorials in Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania on the way to Washington, DC for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial (NLEOM).  In each state, the SDPD Honor One crew presented representatives with a plaque in honor of the fallen peace officers from that state.  At the conclusion of NLEOM events, SDPD Honor One made additional stops at memorials in Arkansas, Texas and Arizona before returning home.

When SDPD Officer Jonathan DeGuzman was killed in the line-of-duty in July 2016, the SDPD Honor One crew began preparing for another mission to honor this heroes sacrifice.  In May 2017, SDPD Honor One once again departed San Diego to share the story of Officer DeGuzman's loss and share the grief with law enforcement brothers from across the United States.

SDPD Honor One stopped at law enforcement memorials in Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Oklahoma and New Mexico as it crossed the United States on its way to Washington, DC for Police Week.

A 2019 mission to visit law enforcement memorials in the northeast was planned, but had to be postponed due to logistical difficulties.  During the hiatus caused by the pandemic of 2020 - 2021, an effort began to upgrade SDPD Honor One to a Ford Police Interceptor SUV, the new standard patrol vehicle of the San Diego Police Department.  Several designs were considered and the SDPD Honor 1 v2 was completed in June 2022.
